Redfox, a technology manufacturing company in the Philippines must ring a bell to longtime tech enthusiasts, but for some, it seems to be something new. Now we can’t blame them, for some reason it seems Redfox being a local based manufacturer disappeared from the limelight in the local market. However, just recently Redfox returned with a bang! They showcased a new line of gaming laptops, under the name Vengeance which caught me personally by surprise. These are laptops that can be put side by side with Omen, Predator, MSI and even ROG. That’s something that I did not expect at all. And Yes! It comes with a very tempting price, that’s definitely one of its weapons against the big brands right now.
The Vengeance has three series namely; Alecto, Megaera, and Tisiphone. I’m really not a fan of those names but yes those names came from Greek Mythology.
The Three Furies
The Alecto Series is Vengeance’s entry-level laptop using a plastic chassis. Though I have reservations of calling it entry level since these laptops highlights 8th Generation Intel Core i7, GTX 1050Ti/GTX 1060 and up to 144Hz Display refresh rate. Furthermore like other known brands in the market right now it also has a Fan Boost System which helps with the laptops thermal.

The Megaera Series was definitely the darling of the crowd during the event. I’ll say that it’s the most beautiful of the three. This laptop highlights 3-way ultra slim display for immersive viewing, fast refresh rate, better thermals, premium chassis at only 19.9mm thickness and 2.1kg in weight making it a portable gaming laptop. I have to admit though that when they unveiled it, the first thing that comes to my mind is ROG. It is closely identical with ROG Strix GL504, sharing some of its highlights.

Now I’m not saying that one is better than the other or they are equal, we are still waiting for the complete review of Megaera. I’m just surprised by their similarities.

We were not allowed to turn on the Tisiphone Laptop during the event since maybe it was not yet final. Basically, Tisiphone is the flagship of Vengeance, and as they said it’s definitely not for everyone, might not be because of the price but because of its sheer size. What’s great about this laptop is it’s extremely modular, that means it’s one of the first if not the first laptop where you can upgrade both CPU and GPU, quite interesting!

If you haven’t noticed all of the three series starts with an Intel Core i7, and as of now, they don’t have any plans of introducing an Intel Core i5 to the family of Vengeance. Their reason was they want to give the best to their end user, and that’s fair enough. However looking at how they price their i7 (which is the i5 price segment of other brands), they might be able to do more disruption in the gaming laptop market with an i5 powered Vengeance. Let’s see if they will change their minds.
Overall they actually did a good start with Vengeance; however, we are yet to test more these products if this is as good as they have said. Externally and in Papers I can’t really find major flaws, thus we are curious how did Redfox manage to bring down the price making Vengeance way very affordable compared to their competitors. For sure one is Logistics/Margin since Vengeance will only be available in Laptop Factory and Lazada. The big question is that, could there be more compromise? That we can answer once we have the full review. If Redfox will do this right, they can be a major threat to the big brands.
